Overview

EIM provides a forum for information managers, scientists, and informatics researchers to present and discuss advances in environmental information management, analysis, and modeling. EIM 2011 invites original, short papers (6 pages) on environmental information management.  Papers that are accepted after peer-review will be presented as 15 minute oral presentations. The conference will also include a Poster session and Birds of a Feather sessions.  Submissions focusing on the conference theme ‘Data Interoperability for Synthesis Science' are encouraged, and additional topics for submissions include (but are not limited to):

  • Sensor networking and deployment
  • Data acquisition, field-computing devices
  • Quality control processing
  • Data archival for long-term persistence
  • Metadata generation, storage, and management
  • Metadata-driven data analysis services
  • Data and metadata semantics, controlled vocabularies, and ontologies
  • Analysis and modeling frameworks
  • Data and metadata versioning and lineage
  • Visualization tools
  • Geospatial tools, applications, and standards
  • Sociology of collaboration and data sharing

Conference Information

Conference Submissions

The conference will use online submissions for the three types of submissions. All submissions will be handled through the  EasyChair conference management system.  To submit a Contributed Paper, A Poster, or a Birds of a Feather Session, please create an account on the EasyChair system and submit the item there.  All reviews and correspondence regarding your submission will be via the online review system.

Conference Proceedings

The EIM conference produced an open-access, peer-reviewed proceedings volume to publish the accepted papers and poster abstracts associated with the conference.  

Lodging

Accommodations are available at a group rate at the conference hotel (Fess Parker Doubletree) and several other hotels at various price points.  Please see Lodging and Accommodations for details.  Discounted rates are available for a limited time and are available on a first-come, first-served basis by contacting each of the listed hotels.
 

Registration

Registration for the conference is being handled online.  We are offering discounted registration to students (proof of student status required at conference) and to people who register early for the conference.  As our costs are unpredictable without advanced registration, the cost of the conference will rise for late and on-site registration.  The registration deadlines and prices are:
